Medicare & Medicare Supplement
Medicare is a health benefits program for US citizens or permanent residents who meet certain work history requirements. Most people are automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B on the first day of the month they turn 65. You can make changes to your Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug coverage when certain events happen in your life, like if your move or you lose other insurance coverages. Unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) then changes to your plan can only be made during the Annual Election Period (October 15 – December 7)
Unlike Retirement Planning, Retirement Income Planning is all about the practical considerations and the risks actually faced in retirement. Things like, “Am I ready to retire?” “When should I take Social Security?” “What are my health insurance and/or Medicare options?” “What is the optimal way to retire?” “Do I have a plan for long term health care-and a way to finance it?” And, “What about leaving a legacy?”
If you ask 50 financial advisors, “How should I retire?” you’ll probably get 50 different opinions. But it’s important to base your retirement not on opinions but on mathematical, scientific and economic research by some of the most renowned economists and researchers in the world. Now there is an easy to use tool called “Ready 2 Retire” that can help you begin to address the optimal way to have a successful and happy retirement. It’s free. Try it today!
